"The child is now asymptomatic and recovering well and walking normally in the hospital and likely to be discharged in two to three days," Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, one of the doctors who treated her, said.
The panel comprised Bhardwaj, Dr Neeraj Ganju, Assistant Professor in Cardiology, and Dr Nirmal Kolte.
The child had congenital complete heart block, a rare disorder that occurs once in 22,000 live births, and the permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI) in such a small child was the first time in IGMC, Bhardwaj said.
Extensive precautions were taken during the procedure that took about 45 minutes, he said, adding that the PPI generator has a life span of around 8-10 years and will require replacement thereafter.
