Perry's hair often gets caught in the wheels during performances and the insurers worry that it would strain her neck, the Sun reported.

"I keep being told the insurers are worried I will injure my neck. I seriously doubt it could be lethal but they want a new bra designed that will not allow hair to be caught up," Perry said.

The American singer, who puts on elaborate costumes and and an array of wigs for her performances, said her wig got caught in the rotating candy bra attached to her dress while she was performing recently.

"My hair got caught in the wheels of my spinning peppermint bra and began to coil around and around. I'm forced to just go with it... What a girl does for her art," said Perry.

The singer wore a red and white candy bra in her new documentary 'Katy Perry: Part Of Me' during a performance on her 2011 tour.

She has been spotted wearing whipped cream and cake-inspired bras in her video 'California Gurls' but her fondness for wacky underwear may become a thing of past if her insurers have their way.

"It may seem trivial but a simple pulled muscle can stop a performer like Katy from going on. Insurers don't care about the art or the fun
