Police in southern Peru say a bus ran off a remote road in the Andes and plunged into a ravine, killing two children and 17 adults. Eighteen more people are injured.
Regional police commander Col Julio Prado says the cause of the accident is under investigation.
He says it happened about 4:20 am yesterday in a farming community in the Acoria district of the Huancavelica region about 246 kilometres southeast of Lima.

The Peruvian Attorney General's Office says the main causes of such accidents are bus drivers' recklessness, excessive speed, alcohol drinking and sleepiness.
