About 200 persons today submitted a petition to Tamil Nadu Housing Board, with their thumb impression in blood, demanding immediate issuance of sale deeds for their houses allotted decade ago.

The members, under the banner of Orunkinaitha Tamil Nadu Kovai Veetu Vasathi Variya Pirivu Othukeetalargal Nala Sangham gathered at the TNHB office here and condemned the inordinate delay in issuance of sale deeds.

Stating that more than more than15,000 families are living in TNHB houses across city and were affected due to delay in giving the sale deeds, S K Sundararaj, president of the sangham said that the board was delaying citing litigations in land acquisitions by land owners, who were seeking higher compensation for the lands acquired long back.

Despite all the allottees and families have settled the full amount, while purchasing the houses, the board was asking them to pay more for settling the owners due with interest, he claimed.

In many cases the legal hurdles were removed, as investigations revealed that some owners had made fraudulent claims over the land, he said, adding this was a long wait.

The officials have promised to forward the petition to headquarters for suitable action.
