: A petition, seeking to take stringent action against those indulged in usury was submitted to the district collector, by a group of people, today.
Led by AIADMK Singanallur MLA, Chinnasamy, nearly 100 persons, met the Collector Archana Patnaik and submitted the petition.
They urged deployment of more officers to prevent the menace of usury, which was prevalent in the district, as poor people were tempted to take loans and suffer, due to the abnormal interest.
