Petrol pump employee fired upon, injured

An employee of a petrol pump in Banga was injured today when two persons allegedly opened fire at him in a bid to snatch a bag containing cash that he was carrying to deposit in a bank, police said.

The incident occurred around 10 am, they said.

The petrol pump is situated near Banga bus stand on Banga-Phagwara highway.

Police said when the employee of the petrol pump resisted the attempt of the miscreants to snatch his bag, they opened fire at him resulting in grievous injury.

Police head constable Ashok Lohtia, who was on patrol duty in the area, raised an alarm following which the miscreants fled on their motorcycle.

 

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Banga, Sartaj Singh said the police have started a probe.

The injured employee has been shifted to a hospital in Ludhiana, police said.
