Petrol pump manager shot at in Thane

A petrol pump manager was injured after two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly opened fire on him at Nimboli on Mumbai-Nashik Highway this morning, police said.

The victim, Aksesh Patel, who works as a manager with Adarsha Petrol Pump at Yeval, was driving his car when the pillion rider fired at him from his revolver at point blank range, PSI V S Shirsat of the Bhiwandi taluka police station said.

The bullets pierced through the glass and brushed the victim's cheek, he said.

Patel was rushed to Jupiter Hospital in Thane and is now undergoing treatment.

The motive behind the firing was not yet clear and the police have registered an offence under section 307 of the IPC and the Arms Act.
