Petrol pump owner dies after attack

Bhani Sahay (37) was waylaid by the three assailants this afternoon and hit with iron rods and other blunt weapons. The trio stole Rs 10 lakh from the box of his two wheeler and sped away, they said.

Passersby rushed the victim to hospital where he succumbed to injuries, they said, adding, a case was registered against the trio.

Haryana Petroleum Dealers Association has threatened to go on strike on Monday if the culprits were not nabbed within 48 hours, a spokesman said after a meeting.

INLD president and local MLA Ashok Arora has also warned the district police to take immediate action and blamed the state police machinery for its apathetic attitude towards the crimes.

 

An emergent meeting of traders unions, representatives of social, religious and commercial organisations and citizens was held in which the incident was condemned.

A resolution was passed to enforce a bandh in the city on Monday if local police was not able to nail the culprits within 48 hours.
