Petrol to cost Rs 5.10 a litre higher in Uttarakhand

Petrol price in Uttarakhand were today hiked by Rs 5.10 per litre after the state government revised local levy on the fuel.

Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma said a base tax of Rs 17 per litre has been fixed for petrol under the new mechanism.

The fixed VAT replaces ad-valoren rate of 25 per cent. The state government got Rs 12.50 per litre from the ad-valoren levy.

A litre of petrol will cost Rs 67.30 in the state from tomorrow.
