PGCIL, ADWEA inks pact for cooperation in power transmission

Central transmission utility Power Grid Corporation has entered into a pact with Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority for cooperation in areas like smart grid, transmission technology and distribution.

"Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), a central power sector PSU and CTU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA) & its group of companies on January 25, 2017 in Gurgaon," the power ministry said in a release.

The pact inter alia envisages cooperation in areas such as smart grid; transmission technology and providing capability development; and training in the field of operation & maintenance, asset management, project management, power transmission & distribution, etc.
 

The central transmission utility shall also assist ADWEA in setting up an advanced 'World Class Capability Development institute' in the UAE, the release said.

The MoU was signed by Saeed Al Suwaidi, the Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Distribution Co (UAE), and Anil Mehra, the Executive Director- International Business of Power Grid Corp, the statement said.
