Delhi got 400 MW of less power as Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd curtailed the supply from midnight last night to BSES discoms due to non-payment of dues.

Officials said PGCIL cut supply of power to BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL) from a number of power generation stations.

They said there was, however, no significant impact because of the cut in supply.

The supply was cut by 260 MW for BRPL and 160 MW for BYPL.

A BRPL official described the PGCIL action as "arbitrary and unjustified".

"This has happened despite BRPL's best efforts to assure PGCIL of its commitment to pay its dues as also its payment track record. Of the total amount of Rs 321 crore due for the year, BRPL has already paid Rs 308 crore to PGCIL," he said.

A BYPL statement said "there is no supply issue in BYPL area.
