Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today directed the district administration of Ferozepur to expedite the formalities required for handing over the possession of a site to the PGI authorities for establishing a satellite centre of the institute.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting here to review the progress of various development works in the Ferozepur city.
Te Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur to expedite the formalities required for handing over the possession of the site to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) authorities so that the satellite institute could be established shortly.

The Chief Minister also assured state BJP President Kamal Sharma who raised several issues related to the development of Ferozepur that all the ongoing projects would be completed on priority.
Badal, as per an official release, also told Sharma that he would soon take up the issue of construction of a railway-under-bridge (RUB) at Basti Tankanwali with the Ministry of Railways and write a DO letter to Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu for soliciting his personal intervention for its construction at the earliest.
Agreeing to another demand to provide direct rail link between Ferozepur and Amritsar, Badal also assured the BJP Punjab State Unit President that he would also request Prabhu to get this project pending with the Ministry of Railways since long, cleared soon without any further delay.
Realising immense significance of this project to boost trade and commerce activity in the border region, the Chief Minister said he would personally take up this issue with the Railways Minister to get it approved in the next Union Railway Budget.
The Chief Minister also informed Sharma that he would also personally take up the issue of installation of light and sound at Hussainiwala Memorial at Indo-Pak border with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs so as to get this work accomplished on the top priority.
