In this centre, departments of obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics and community medicine would jointly come together to form a field unit.

However, research inputs from other departments would also be taken into consideration, Director General of ICMR and Secretary in the Department of Health Research Dr V M Katoch said today.

He said that the Centre could submit research proposals to ICMR for grant-in-aid projects in priority areas of research of national, regional and state relevance.

This would be the first ICMR centre in PGIMS, he said in a release here.

Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences PGIMS Dr S S Sangwan said that establishment of this centre would boost research in the areas of reproductive health in the institution.

The Centre would work in coordination with state health functionaries and would be actively involved in cultivation of new knowledge and better and efficient delivery of health care to the people of Haryana, he said.
