The core banking solutions (CBS) enabled GPO was inaugurated by Kulbir Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Punjab and UT Chandigarh Circle.

Earlier, only the UT sub-office had CBS facility and now Phagwara GPO had become the first in Punjab to have it, Singh told reporters here.

"Now customers will get all facilities available in CBS branch like instant transfer of accounts or certificates from CBS to CBS post office and automatic posting of interest at the end of month," he said.

An ATM would be installed here within three months and debit cards would also be made available to customers, Singh said.
