Pharma shares fall; Sun Pharma top loser on Sensex

Pharma shares fell by up to 3.6 per cent today amid reports that global brokerage firm Bank of America Merrill Lynch has downgraded some of the drug firms.

Amid heavy selling in pharma scrips, Wockhardt fell by 3.57 per cent, Biocon was down 3.37 per cent and Sun Pharmaceutical dipped 3.21 per cent on the BSE.

Sun Pharma was the top loser among the 30-Sensex scrips.

Similarly, Lupin lost 3.19 per cent, Cadila Healthcare slipped 3.17 per cent and Cipla was down 2.34 per cent.

Led by the dip in these stocks, the BSE healthcare index fell by 2.08 per cent to settle at 18,194.76.
 

As per reports, Bank of America Merrill Lynch has downgraded Sun Pharma, Lupin, Cipla and Cadila Healthcare.

In the broader market, the BSE benchmark Sensex ended with a gain of 177.46 points at 28,885.21.
