American singer Pharrell Williams has retained the UK number one spot for a third week with 'Happy'.

The 'Despicable Me 2' track sold nearly 118,000 copies over the last seven days - its best weekly sales figure to date - to fend off competition from Pitbull and Kesha, reported Digital Spy.

Pitbull and Kesha's 'Timber' is unmoved at number two this week, while Avicii's 'Hey Brother' and Jason Derulo's 'Trumpets' are non-movers at three and four respectively.

Elyar Fox scored the highest new entry on the UK Top 40 with his debut single 'Do It All Over Again', which debuted at number five.

Fuse ODG's 'Million Pound Girl (Badder Than Bad) is at six, and Ellie Goulding dropped one place to number seven with 'How Long Will I Love You'.

Matrix & Futurebound's Max Marshall-assisted 'Control' is at eight this week, while Eminem and Rihanna's 'The Monster' and 'Turn Back Time' from Sub Focus followed at nine and ten.

Meanwhile, Shakira and Rihanna's 'Can't Remember To Forget You' debuted at eleven following its release on January 13.

Tinie Tempah and Labrinth climbed 15 places with 'Lover Not A Fighter' at number 27, while Beyonce's 'XO' rose eight spots to make its UK Top 40 debut at number 37.
