Vedanta Limited today said it has appointed Phillip Turner as its Head - Sustainability, in addition to his existing responsibility as Group Head - HSE (Health, Safety and Environment).

Turner joined Vedanta in 2014. Prior to this, he has worked with Rio Tinto, BHP Petroleum, North Limited and other resources companies, the company said.

"Our sustainability model has four pillars...Responsible stewardship; building strong relationships; adding and sharing value; and strategic communications," Turner said.

"This is an exciting time to be part of Vedanta as we look to a very bright future. Our emphasis on community dialogue and mutual respect linked with our commitment to the principles of free prior informed consent when accessing natural resources will galvanise Vedanta as the developer of choice," he added.

Vedanta Ltd is the sixth largest global natural resources company.
