To put a check on criminals and stop passage of secret information through phone, administration in the district near Indo-Pak border has made it mandatory for pubic telephone booth owners to keep a record of international calls made from their shops.

In an order issued by District Magistrate Madhusudan Sharma last night, the telephone booth operators have been asked to maintain a register containing details of all persons making international calls from their shops.

The operators will have to keep record of all callers and calls made by them, the order stated.

They will have to show the record to the police officer concerned every week.

The order also states that the operators will have to report any suspicious person or call to the nearest police station.

The record maintained by the telephone operators can be seen by Tehsildar, police, magistrate, BSF and officials of security agencies any time, the order stated.
