Photo journalist Virendra Prabhakar no more

Well known photo journalist Virendra Prabhakar passed away this morning after suffering cardiac arrest.

He was 84.

Prabhakar's work was widely published and admired, and he was awarded Padmashree in 1982 for his contribution to photography.

He is survived by wife, Kanta Jain, two sons-- Ashok Jain and Ravi Jain-- and daughter Neelam.

Ravi Jain is joint secretary of DDCA.

Prabhakar was also the Secretary of the Chitrakala Sangam.

He was named in Limca Book of Records as the "longest spell working Press Photo Journalist". He had 14,458 published news photos in his entire career.
