Renowned photographer Surendra R Patel was today presented the Life-Time Achievement Award at the 4th National Photography Awards function here, where several other eminent lensmen too were honoured.
Swarup Dutta was given the award of Best Professional Photographer Award and R Sasikumar of Best Amateur Photographer. Ten photographers under the Special Mention category for both the Professional and Amateur segments were also honoured.
Information and Broadcasting secretary Bimal Julka, who presented the awards said they were meant to pay salutations to the greatest and the best from photography profession.

Julka also said that the I&B ministry is planning to hold photography and videography workshops in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeastern states on the lines of one which was held here yesterday where over 135 officials got opportunity to hone their skills.
Noted cinematographer Santosh Sivan and Chairman of the Jury Committee Anil Risal Singh were also present.
The theme for the Professional Category was 'Hamara Bharat Swachh Bharat' and for the Amateur Category was 'Mother and Child'.
Patel, the winner of the Life Time Achievement Award is an eminent professional in the field of photography and has participated in several national and international exhibitions and salons from 1951 and has 200 awards to his credit.
He is credited for having presented more than 100 slideshows on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, 1958 and pictorial photography in different parts of the country.
He is an expert in using 120 format film camera, 135 mm film camera and digital camera along-with specialisation in dark room photo techniques.
Presently, he is President of Niharika Ahmedabad - The Gujarat Pictorialist Society and has also been Chairperson of Colour Division Federation of India Photography.
