A orchestra show compiled by nearly 100 physically challenged artists would be held here on December 15 to celebrate the birth centenary of noted social worker late Baba Amte, Thane Mayor Sanjay More said today.

The proceeds from the show will be donated to an Ashram founded by Baba Amte, he said.

"A physical handicap cannot restrain you from achieving excellence even in a field like music. True to their spirit of excellence, an ensemble of around 100 talented but physically challenged artists will bring a soul-searching experience through music, dance and other art forms," he said.

Amte, born in December 1914, toiled for the deprived masses inflicted with leprosy and castigated by the society. He provided these people a ray of hope, More said.

Baba Amte's son Dr Vikas Amte has carried forward the work and added another dimension to it through a musical presentation in the form of an orchestra created by him in 2002 with the talented people who are visually impaired, physically challenged and cured of leprosy.
