Physically challenged people get loans to set up enterprises

Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Shivajirao Moghe said here today that the state has prioritised physically challenged people with loans at low interest rates through the Disabled Finance Development Corporation to set up small units as per their physical conditions.

He was addressing a gathering of physically challenged people at Pandharkawda, 70 km away from the city.

"The state government is implementing various schemes for the disabled through awareness guidance camps. Loan have also been disbursed to the disabled at such camps, Moghe said, adding that his department has opened six financial development corporations for the disabled.

He said that the loan recovery is 86 per cent which is good, as compared to recovery of loans by other such institutions.
 

His department disburses 30 per cent of loans as subsidies and a fixed amount is reserved for the purpose of loans to the disabled, for which necessary amendments would be made to existing laws, he said.

Able bodied people should marrying the disabled are given Rs 50,000 as grant and such couples are felicitated on December 3 every year.

"We are planning a separate special policy for the betterment of the disabled soon," Moghe said.

At the function, loans were disbursed along with loan sanction letter, job cards and guidance to the disabled, to run businesses profitably. Successful disabled enterprenuers were also been felicited at the function.
