Physically-challenged student commits suicide in Mathura

A 22-year-old physically-challenged student allegedly committed suicide after consuming poison, police said.

Pawan Kumar, an engineering student at BSA College here, consumed poison while he was alone in his room on Tuesday afternoon.

As his condition started deteriorating, Kumar called up one of his friends, who then informed his family about the incident.

Kumar was rushed to the district hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a 50-year-old woman was buried alive after earth caved in on her while digging a pit.

Javitri and her daughter Neelam (18) were digging a pit on the outskirts of Nausherpur village when earth caved in and they got buried under a mound of mud, police said.
 

Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Javitri was declared dead.
