In yet another scandal involving PIA staff, an airhostess with the state-run airlines has been arrested in Italy after illegal drugs were recovered from her luggage at the Milan airport.

The Pakistan International Airlines's flight-733 Lahore-Milan-Paris left for its destination from the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore on Tuesday.

On its arrival at the Milan airport yesterday, the immigration authorities detected illegal drugs in airhostess Rashida Amin's hand-carry luggage.

"After that the immigration officials conducted a thorough search of the luggage of other crew members of the PIA," a PIA official said, adding Amin during interrogation confessed to her crime.

"She has been handed over to the Milan police to investigate whether she has links with drug mafia in the city," he said.

PIA spokesman Mashhood Tajwar confirmed the incident.

He said the Italian government would officially inform the Pakistani government about the fate of the airhostess.

The PIA which already is in financial mess has been in the news for one issue or another for the last few week.

This week, customs authorities at Lahore airport handed over an airhostess and a steward to police for trying to smuggle 4 iphones worth about Rs 2.5 million into Pakistan from the UK.
