Press Trust of India Indore
Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notices to the state authorities, seeking reply to a public interest litigation challenging inclusion of 29 fringe villages within the Indore Municipal Corporation limits.

The division bench of Justices Shantanu Kemkar and J K Jain issued notices to the Chief Secretary, Indore Collector, Indore Commissioner, Urban Administration and Development Department's Deputy Secretary and Panchayat and Rural Development Department's Principal Secretary.

The PIL has been filed by Anil Trivedi.

The government's decision to include these villages in IMC's jurisdiction would be subject to the outcome of the PIL, the court said. The next hearing would be held on June 17.

Trivedi, who is AAP's candidate from Indore Lok Sabha constituency, said the notification which included the villages in IMC limits was illegal, as the procedure under the Madhya Pradesh Nagar Palika Adhiniyam - 1956 was not followed.

IMC is unable to provide drinking water and other basic amenities to the citizens, so how would it provide any amenities to these villages, the PIL asks.
