The CPI(M) today moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Tamil Nadu government to establish anti-corruption body Lokayukta in the state as per the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act.
A PIL in this regard was filed by CPI(M) state secretary G Ramakrishnan, who also sought for an interim direction from the court to file steps taken by the government for the constitution of Lokayukta.
Ramakrishnan said the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act was passed by Parliament in 2013 paving the way for their establishment to fight corruption in public offices and ensure accountability on the part of the public officials.
