A PIL was today filed in the Delhi High Court alleging that eggs and vegetables made of plastic were being imported from China and sold in Indian markets in large quantities.
The plea, which also seeks directions to the authorities concerned to conduct raids at places where such commodities are being stored, came up for hearing before a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal who listed the matter for hearing on April 28.
The plea by a social worker has sought taking samples of eggs and vegetables being imported from China and examining their quality to protect the health of public at large.
The petitioner has alleged that these adulterated food items are being sold during the off-season, especially in metropolitan cities.
