Pilot killed, 1 injured in paraglider accident in Rajasthan

The pilot of a paraglider was killed and its passenger injured today when it crashed in Rajasthan's Nagaur, police said.

The paraglider, which belonged to a private company, had lifted off from an airstrip and was to land back on it. But the pilot lost control and crashed it on a tree near a house, Circle Officer, Nagaur, Omprakash Gautam, said.

The spot of the accident was in a residential colony, around 2 km away from the airstrip, he said.

Pilot Manav, in his 30s, and another man Gaurav Bhati (27), a local, who was on the flight, received critical injuries, the officer said.
 

They were rushed to the district hospital where the pilot succumbed to injuries. Bhati was referred to a hospital in Jodhpur, he said.

The paragliding activity was going on in the city during Ramdev Cattle Fair, Gautam said.
