Pinarayi Vijayan visits lifer in RMP leader murder case

: CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan today visited party leader P K Kunhanandan at the Central jail here, where he is serving a life sentence in connection with the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T P Chandrasekharan on May 4, 2012.

Vijayan was in the jail for nearly 20 minutes.

CPI(M) leaders MLAs E P Jayarajan, T V Rajesh, and James Mathew, also visited Kunhanandan and P K Sreemathy, the party candidate for Kannur, also visited him, sources said.

He did not say anything to reporters waiting outside the jail.

Chandrasekharan, a CPI(M) rebel who floated the parallel outfit RMP was hacked to death in May 2012 near his hometown Onjiyam near Vatakara in Kozhikode district.
 

On Jan 23, a special additional sessions court at Kozhikode had sentenced 11 accused to life imprisonment and three years to another accused.

It had also acquitted 24 persons, including P Mohanan, District Secretariat member of the Marxist party.
