Pinky Roy XI beat Atletico Kolkata 3-1 in an exhibition match

Pinky Roy XI stunned much-touted Kolkata franchise of Indian Super League Atletico de Kolkata 3-1 in an exhibition match held to raise awareness against cancer at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan here tonight.

After striker Fikru Ferrara put Atletico in the lead, Pinky XI excelled in the later part of the match and pumped in three successive goals through Sarabuddin Mullick, Koko and Adajlaja in the 60th, 68th and 79th minute respectively.

Pinky, wife of local sports photographer Ronny Roy is now fighting the dreaded disease. She was present at the stadium during the match to cheer both the sides.

About 6000 spectators, who were allowed by the police to watch this practice match for Atletico Kolkata, were disappointed as the ISL's Kolkata franchise failed to sparkle and beat the tight Pinky Roy eleven defence.
 

Pinky Roy Eleven consisted of players including foreign recruits, who are now playing in different Kolkata clubs, combined well specially in the second half when play moved on fast pace and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly also played for the winners for some minutes.

Pinky's Daniel Bidemi and Koko combination aided by Kaatsumi and Ashim Biswas pierced the rival defence on several occasions. They could have won with a bigger margin but for the chances they missed towards the end.
