Pistachio gains on high demand

Pistachio prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today on the back of increased buying by retailers and stockists amidst fall in supplies from overseas markets.

Prices of pistachio hairati and peshwari gained Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 1,365-1,445 and Rs 1,505-1,555 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said increased offtake by retailers and stockists to meet marriage and seasonal demand mainly pushed up pistachio prices on the dry fruit market here.

Following are today's quotations (per 40 kg):

Almond (California) Rs 21,700, Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 8,200-8,500; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 6,300-6,500; Abjosh Afghani Rs 15,000-25,000.

Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 750-770 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 630-740 per kg.
