Pistachio prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today on the back of increased buying by retailers and stockists due to festive demand amid low stocks.

Fall in supplies from overseas markets also supported the uptrend.

Pistachio hairati and peshwari rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 1,355-1,455 and Rs 1,505-1,555 per kg, respectively.

Marketmen said fresh buying by retailers and stockists due to festive season against fall in supplies from overseas markets pushed up pistachio prices on the dry fruit market here.

Following are today's quotations (per 40 kg):

Almond (California) Rs 19,800, Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 8,000-8,400; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 4,800-5,000; Abjosh Afghani Rs 18,000-23,000.
