Plan to promote AIDS best practices launched

An initiative to promote best practices and innovations in battling HIV-AIDS, "Partnerships Beyond Borders (PBB)" between Indian and African companies under the ageis of United States and India was launched here today.

Conceived by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the South-To-South HIV/AIDS Resource Exchange (SHARE), PBB will assess existing policies, strategies and guidelines in African countries to identify opportunities for private sector engagement in HIV/AIDS programmes, a press release issued by US Consulate here said.

The joint initiative will also support market assessments for key HIV/AIDS products and services, establish linkages between Indian and African companies besides strengthening capacities of Indian and African companies to promote HIV/AIDS products and services in India and Africa.
 

US Ambassador Nancy J Powell, V K Subburaj, Director General of the Department of AIDS Control, High Commissioners of African countries, Dr Sangita Reddy, Chairperson, FICCI Health Services Committee, Prof Suresh, Honorary Secretary of Voluntary Health Services (VHS) participated, the release said.
