Association of Industries, Madhya Pradesh (AIMP) has opposed the plan of shifting state's 187 industrial areas from District Industries Centre (DIC) to Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVN).

"The plan to shift 187 industrial areas of the state from DIC to AKVN will create lot of problems specially for the small scale industries and they would not be able to compete with their counterparts in other states," AIMP President, Hemant Mehtani told reporters here yesterday.

Mehtani said that AKVN used to levy heavy charges for maintaining an industrial area and the small-scale industries are not in a position to pay them.

However, AKVN Indore's Managing Director, Manish Singh said that if these industrial areas are brought under the purview of AKVN then better infrastructure facilities would be created in these centres.

He allayed fears that AKVN would charge hefty fee from small scale industries and also assured that in such an event there won't be any change in the existing lease rent of these units.

AIMP also took out a rally yesterday to protest against the issue and later submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan through the Divisional Commissioner.
