Rapid urbanisation throws up several challenges which need to be addressed through planning and equitable development, Rajasthan Autonomous Bodies, Urban Development and Housing Minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat told the Assembly today.
Referring to the Centre's ambitious 'Smart City' scheme, the minister said that two cities in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, made the first list of 20 cities to be developed under it.
"Smart City implies good governance, society and technology," Shekhawat said while hailing the scheme.
He also said that 29 cities in the state have been short- listed for the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
