The plastic industry in eastern India is set to get a boost with the new petrochemicals complexes coming up in Guwahati and Paradip.
Plastindia Foundation president S Kadakia said here today the consumption of plastics in eastern India was only 2.8 kg against the national average per capita consumption of 8 kg.
"The industry is growing at nine per cent in the eastern region against the 14 per cent national growth in the last few years," the foundations's national executive council chairman J R Shah said.

Plastindia Foundation has signed an MoU with Wiintech (body of European clusters) for new technologies and collaboration from European countries.
The collaboration will include setting up of research and development partnerships as well as encouraging technology transfer and trade arrangement with focus in clean technologies in plastics industry.
