: The Platecuttingceremony of the two '500 Passenger-cum-150 Tonne Cargo' vessels,being built for theAndaman and Nicobar Administrationwas held here today.
CaptAnoop Kumar Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, Shipping Corporation of India,cut the first steel plate for Ship No 21and Capt Rajinder Kumar, Director of Shipping Services,A&N Administrationcut it for Ship No 22.
The plate cutting ceremony is one of the initial milestones in the construction process of a ship.

CSL has alsobeen awardedtwomorevessels with capacity of 1,200 passengerscum1000 tonnes cargofor the A&N Administration, it said.
MadhuS Nair, C&MD CSL delivered the welcome speech.
Directors of CSL, representatives from the Indian Register of Shipping, AmericanBureau of Shipping, officers, supervisors and workmen of CSL attended the function.
C&MD SCI alsodedicatedthe 200 KWP Solar PowerPlant.
With the commissioning of this 200 KWP capacity plant, CSL currently has total installed capacity of 535 KW solar power.
In the current fiscl, CSL completed construction of 20 Fast Patrol Vessels for theIndianCoast Guard - the last one of the series, the 20thvessel was delivered in December, three months ahead of schedule, the release said.
CSL also delivered the Deck Cargo/Jacket Launch Barge to M/s National Petroleum Construction Company, Abu Dhabi during the current fiscal.
Apart from construction of the prestigious Indigenous Aircraft Carrier for the Indian Navy, CSL is currently building a Technology Demonstration vessel for the Government of India, it said.
