Players' auction for Pro Kabaddi set to be held tomorrow

The inaugural players' auction for the July-August Pro Kabaddi League is to be held here tomorrow during which 96 players from 14 countries would go under the hammer for representing eight city-based franchise teams.

The teams are: Bangaluru Bulls (Bangalore), Jaipur Pink Panthers, Bengal Warriors (Kolkata), Puneri Paltan (Pune), Telugu Titans (Vishakapatnam), U Mumba (Mumbai) and yet-to-be-named outfits representing Patna (inducted instead of Chennai as announced earlier) and Delhi.

The eight participating teams have been given an equal purse of Rs 60 lakh for Category A and B Players.

The players been divided into three categories - A, B and C - by the Kabaddi Federation of India based on prior records and performances.
 

The base price for category A players is Rs 4 lakh and bidding for category B players would begin at Rs 2 lakh while category C players would be allotted to teams through a double draw format.

The twelfth and final player on the team will be chosen by the franchise as a 'State Wild Card' from a list provided by the association, said the release.

The league, to be held from July 26-August 31, is being organised by Mashal sports with the blessings of the International Kabaddi Federation and the Kabaddi Federation of India.
