"Permanent Roommates" actor Sumeet Vyas says after a string of good guy roles, playing a negative character in upcoming film "Kajarya," was a much needed change.

The movie, directed by Delhi-based filmmaker Madhureeta Anand, explores the issue of female foeticide and is scheduled to release on December 4.

"It is a special film where everyone was driven by passion. We all worked hard for the film, more so because it is for a special cause, female foeticide and upliftment of women.

"I am playing a slightly negative character which is refreshing. Otherwise there are chances that you will get typecast in a particular kind of role," Sumeet told PTI.

The actor became a known face with The Viral Fever's "Permanent Roommates", a five-part web series with 40-minute episodes.

However, Sumeet did not expect the show to be so successful when he came on board.

"Initially I did not anticipate that the show will become this huge. By the time the third episode aired, I started getting messages from random people and they started recognising me on the road."

The actor-writer is now geared up for its second season which begins shooting in December and is likely to air by January end.

"People should expect lots of madness, humour and fun. We won't be bogged down by the pressure...We are focused on the goal."

Sumeet, who wrote Yashraj's web-series "Bang Baja Baarat", will also be seen in "Parched", directed by Leena Yadav and co-produced by Ajay Devgn.

The film stars Radhika Apte, Surveen Chawla and Tannishtha Chatterjee.

"In 'Parched' I play a nice guy... My character is in a way very modern and helps women in the village to move out of their homes and try doing work."

Sumeet is a huge fan of Apte, with whom he also worked in Anurag Basu's TV serial "Chokher Bali".

"I am a huge fan of her work. We were working almost simultaneously on 'Chokher Bali' and 'Parched', it was a fun experience," he added.
