The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court has issued a notice to the BCCI, seeking its reply to a PIL which demanded separate Ranji trophy tournament for players from rural parts of the country.
Secretary of All Maharashtra State Leather Cricket Association, Luvkumar Jadhav, has filed the petition which came up for hearing before the bench comprising justice S B Deshmukh and Justice A P Bhangle recently.
"If the BCCI can allow Mumbai city team, Rajkot railway team, Hyderabad city team, why shouldn't players from rural parts be given a chance to play their own separate Ranji trophy?" Jadhav asked in the petition.

Based on the petition, the court issued notice to BCCI, seeking its reply why there separate tournament should not be allowed for rural players.
Jadhav said his association had been organising cricket tournaments at tehsil and district level since the last nine years.
Advocate Prashant Suyavanshi and Ashok Tapse appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
The next hearing on the issue is scheduled on July 30.
