It was a pleasant beginning to the New Year for Delhiites with the maximum temperature settling at 21.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the the season's average, allowing people to come out and enjoy the day.
The minimum temperature recorded was 8.8 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal, according to a MeT official.
Despite fog in the morning, the day was largely pleasant with the sun coming out in the later part.

However, moderate foggy conditions were today witnessed early in the morning which affected 58 trains though flight operations remained smooth.
The MeT department has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow with further rise in mercury rising.
"Tomorrow the skies will be partly cloudy. Moderate fog would occur in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 21 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively," Director In-charge, IGI Airport Met Centre, R K Jenamani, said.
According to Jenamani fog will now subside and will return on January 3 night for a short spell.
Visibility was recorded at 500 m at 8.30 AM which increased to 1000 m at 11.30 AM, 1200 m at 2.30 PM and was recorded 1500 m at 5.30 PM.
The humidity in the air oscillated between 53 per cent and 94 per cent.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 18.5 degrees Celsius.
