PLFI leader arrested

of ultra outfit People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) was arrested while three others including a village head were detained by the police in naxal-affected West Singhbhum district today, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a district police team and CRPF personnel launched a search operation in village Kununum under Bandgaon police station and arrested Munna Swansi, the area commander of PLFI, said Police Superintendent Pankaj Kamboj.

He said three persons including the village head of Kununum, who were with the Swansi at the time of raid, were detained for interrogation.

"We are verifying whether the three persons detained have any link with the ultra outfit," he said assuring that they would be let off if found innocent.

 

Kamboj said Swansi, who was active ultra since 2006, was wanted by the police in West Singhbhum and adjoining Khunti district in over 15 cases including the killing of a driver, who was engaged in a road construction work on NH 75 between Khunti-Bandgaon and another driver of road construction company engaged in Centre-sponsored PMGSY in last five months.

He said police has recovered four rifles, one double barrel gun, 50 to 60 ammunition, Rs 60,000 in cash and records of levy collection and naxal literature from his possession.
