PLFI rebel surrenders

An ultra of the

People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) today surrendered before Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraborty and DGP Rajeev Kumar in Khunti.

Panda Munda alias Ravi Pahan, who is facing 17 naxal-related cases, surrendered before the officials.

He also deposited his rifle.

The ultra was handed over Rs 50,000 as per the state surrender policy.

The state would provide security and education to the family of the surrendered naxalites, besides other benefits under the policy, Chakraborty said.

The government would make efforts in fast tracking the cases for early disposal, he said.

The Jharkhand police chief, who was also present, said the department would encourage the police personnel in their brave efforts in containing left-wing extremism.
