The spread of education among girls by opening such schools in all panchayats would help in stabilising the population of the state, Kumar told Melinda Gates, head of the US-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation here.
Melinda, wife of Microsoft founder and chairman Bill Gates, met the CM and praised the work done in the health sector in the state - particularly those related to polio and kala azar eradication, an official release said.
The Foundation is conducting a campaign against polio in eight districts of Bihar.
Kumar stressed that the Foundation programme needed to be extended to all 38 districts of the state and praised the performance of self help groups in the field of health and education sectors.
Kumar and Melinda Gates discussed the works being done in the field of kala azar in the state, the release added.
