Plus Two students hit road protesting lack of teachers

Protesting non-filling of teacher vacancies, students of a government girls higher secondary school here today staged a 'road roko'.

The students, who abstained from classes, told reporters that no teachers had been posted to handle core subjects since the school reopened last month and pointed out class XII was the most crucial stage in school education.

Joint Director of Education Parthasarathy met the agitating students and pacified the them, saying the government had initiated steps to post the teachers in a phased manner and all vacant posts would be filled in the next few days, following which the protesters dispersed.
