PM arrives in Sikkim, will declare it a total organic state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here today on a two-day visit of Sikkim, which he is slated to declare as the first organic state in the country.

He was received at the Libing army helipad by Governor Srinivas Patil and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, his Cabinet colleagues and top state officials.

Modi also inspected a Guard of Honour by the Black Cat division of the Indian army and personnel of Sikkim police.

The PM's entourage then proceeded to Chintan Bhawan where he will officially inaugurate the National conference on Sustainable Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

Carrying flowers and waving the tricolour, people lined the road leading to the venue of the conference.
 

The PM's first day visit will conclude with a musical and cultural extravaganza at Manan Kendra later in the evening.
