Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives due to lightning and thunderstorm in parts of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
"Deeply anguished by loss of lives due to lightning in parts of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand & other parts of the nation over the last few days," he said in a tweet.
"My thoughts & prayers are with those who lost their near & dear ones due to the lightning. May the injured recover quickly," he added.
Fifty-seven people were killed and 24 injured following heavy rains and thunderstorm in Bihar yesterday.
In Uttar Pradesh, six people were killed and four injured yeterday after being hit by lightning in different parts of Ghazipur district.
