Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invited French companies to take advantage of the "improving business climate" and growing investment opportunities in India.

He extended the invitation while receiving Pierre Gattaz, president of MEDEF (Movement of the Enterprises of France), the largest employer federation of France, according to a PMO statement.

The prime minister noted that France is one of India's top 10 sources of Foreign Direct Investment, it said.

He invited French companies to "take advantage of the improving business climate and growing investment opportunities in India," the statement said.

Modi fondly recalled his visit to France in April 2015 during which he had interacted with a number of French business leaders, the statement said.

He appreciated the invaluable contribution of business leaders from both countries in strengthening the bilateral ties between India and France over the years, it added.

Gattaz briefed the prime minister about growing trade and investment relations between India and France.
