PM, Khaleda agree to cooperate in combating terror

Zia, who is here on the invitation of the External Affairs Minister, called on Singh and held discussions for about 30 minutes on a variety of issues including bilateral matters, including border management.

Singh assured Begum Zia that India will put in place every mechanism to ensure that incidents of killings at the border is brought down to zero, according to sources in Bangladeshi delegation.

"Begum Khaleda Zia was very appreciative of various Indian initiatives which had been taken by the Prime Minister including liberalization of trade, efforts to provide power etc. She also expressed satisfaction at the manner in which India is working out issues related to Tipaimukh Dam and matters on border management including deaths on the border," the Ministry of External Affairs said.

 

"Both the leaders felt that terrorism is of great concern and agreed to continue cooperation on terrorism and insurgent groups," the ministry said.

The Prime Minister also said India was willing to discuss all issues of importance to Bangladesh and mentioned that he always believed that the prosperity of India
