PM never named ISI in Kanpur blast case: HM

The Kanpur train tragedy is being probed by NIA and the investigation is not complete yet, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said today and insisted that Prime Minister had never blamed Pakistan's ISI for the incident.

"The entire Kanpur train incident is being probed by the NIA and the investigation is not yet complete," he said.

After Congress member Digvijay Singh that the Prime Minister has already named the ISI as being behind the incident, Singh said the Prime Minister never named the ISI.

He said it is in public knowledge that the neighbouring country is behind a number of terrorist incidents happening in the country.
 

"It is in public knowledge that our neighbouring country is behind many terrorist activities taking place in the country. The Prime Minister had never named ISI," he said.

With regard to security of railway tracks and railway passengers, the Home Minister said government takes responsibility for people's security.

He said if there is any terrorist activity, the government informs the NIA and they take care of it.

With regard to strengthening of security along the railway tracks across the country, Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that proper security is provided to rail tracks in their territory.

He said the central government is holding consultations with the Railway Ministry for strengthening the security along rail tracks with use of modern technology.

Ahir also said that regional railway officers have been given a manual to be alert and 202 stations are recognised as sensitive across the country.

In reply to another question on infiltration, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said the 'surrender and rehabilitation' policy for NE region is successful in rehabilitating militants.

"We are ready for peace talks, but you must cease violence," Rijiju said on return of terrorists before their rehabilitation under the policy.
